Couch lock! This is a strain that I’ve had a lot of experience with over the years. My suggestion is that you might want to wear some diapers if you are an OG. The couch lock may get in the way of getting up to go to the bathroom! So be prepared or you might soil your trousers and make a mess of yourself and induce uncontrollable laughter amongst your friends and family.

I have just tried this strain for my insomnia and back pain. This has been one of the best for both. It gives me a nice and easy relaxation and calms me before I go to bed. Once I lay down I'm usually out with 15 minutes and I sleep throughout the night. When I don't use it, I'm awake for hours, wake up after an hour or so. I have nerve and muscle pain in my back and it is aggravated from laying or sitting. NL has made sleeping possible once again!
I’m probably not as well versed in strain names vs. your usual cannabis-friendly person, but I knew and remembered THIS name, so that’s saying something right there. NL is everything it’s cracked up to be…in every way. I’m much more of an indica person anyway, but this is a really unbelievably amazing strain. (This is coming from a 30+ smoker/vaper/etc, for whatever that’s worth.) The only not wonderful effect is very dry mouth, as others have mentioned. A small price to pay, though!
My primary go to, reliable evening smoke. Definitely meant for passive activities (watching/listening) rather than active ones. Definitely will get you relaxed.
a great strain - staple. Kinda like smoking in the woods - very piney but in a nice way. Super indica-y watch a show and melt away. You could defo munch some pretzels but you're not gonna order pizza. Top tier indica high
Whoah! I have a decent tolerance. when I came across this at only 16% thc, I thought it wouldn’t do much. I was wrong! I hit this out of a dugout and got blitzed af! I think I was too high! I actually got mild anxiety off this. I over indulged. It can make you sleepy. Me and my husband did the deed while I was on this. It was intense. This is a legendary strain for a reason. Even at mediocre THC levels, it is strong. If you come across it, get it.
My favorite evening strain. Great to relax without couch lock, very relaxing and chill. I don't like heavy indicas so this is perfect and easy to enjoy the buzz and just feel good. You won't be disappointed with this strain.
Background: I vape buds every night, using a Storz & Bickel Mighty set at 200 degrees Celsius. Prior to legalization in my area, I had little to no choice what I grew and smoked: weed was weed. But in the past few years I have had the opportunity to formally compare strains to find my favorites. Northern Lights is certainly in my Top 5.
I evaluate all strains with the same criteria: how far can I go at both ends of the cannabis spectrum at the same time? Can I get a numbing effect while freeing my mind of all the obsessive/negative thoughts? Sadly, the answer for most indica and hybrid strains I have tried (about 15) is no: I get one or the other, even with hybrids. But Northern Lights hits on both. It is my go-to strain when I can’t find Lost Coast or Blueberry Cookies. I’ve been using it for a year now, off and on.
Effect: I take hits every 30-60 seconds, and am feeling it within 10-15 minutes. The body effects are excellent: I go numb. I feel comfortably warm and light. A few minutes later, the psychoactive effects kick in and my mind quiets down. I can hold a conversation but prefer not to. I crave silence. My mind wanders in an amusing way: I hear melodies without any music playing. If I could animate it, it might look like a 60’s style art cartoon, minus the LSD weirdness. I never feel out of control, but I also know better than to attempt anything more ambitious than a walk to the restroom. If it didn’t mess with my concentration, I’d prefer to feel like that all day long.
