I visited Denver Rec Dispensary several months back, during this last summer, and was very happy with the bud quality I received. The sales staff wasn't the MOST knowledgeable I've ever spoken to and purchased from. However, the bud quality is really good and that's all that really matters in my opinion!! Also, they were still more knowledgeable than most of the dispensaries I've been to in Colorado. Just not quite as good as my local pot shops in Steamboat Springs (Golden Leaf and RMR), which unfortunately are not listed on Leafly at this time. :-(

More specifically, I'm smoking on some Bruce Banner #3 from Golden Leaf, my favorite local pot shop in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Bruce Banner has always been on my top 5 overall favorite buds list and every time I smoke some, I remember exactly why it's there. An indica-dominant, but still very energetic, heady strain that contains strong flavors and smells of coffee, skunk, and just plain funk, is exactly what I get every time. I like to think of the Bruce Banner aroma as that of a very straight forward Kush of the OG persuasion, but containing slightly less of a citrus flavor than true OG. This high launches with a distinct, low-intensity tingling in my face which quickly extends over my whole body. My mood begins to improve dramatically, even if I'm already very happy! Anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes after that, the creativity begins to kick in and is easily applied to whatever I'm doing at the moment. My high from Bruce Banner is one of the longer cannabis highs I've ever experienced and can last up to 4 hours. High Times has listed this bud among a few strains that contain the highest THC percentage ever tested in a non-concentrate bud form. The 3.6 grams I purchased today from Golden Leaf was tested at 28.3% THC!!! Needless to say after smoking a small personal out of the bong, I'm high as a kite.

The pre-1998 strain of Bubba Kush has always been on my personal top 5 list of favorite hybrids. Many of us that grew up in Southern California and during the 'Generation-Y' era feel a deep, personal connection to this strain as we smoked it in many of our early experiences with marijuana. These genetics first became widely available at some of the 1st medical dispensaries in LA during the 90's. Pre-98 Bubba Kush is well known as a cannabis containing several STRONG flavors. As I smoke this, filtered out of a heavy, beaker bottom JBD, the most prominent tastes and smells I associate with this bud are skunk and citrus smells followed by the strong distinct orange citrus flavor from the classic OG Kush that mothered this hybrid. Another obvious flavor your taste buds pick up quickly is a strong 'earthiness' that I like to explain as tasting exactly like wet soil, perfect for gardening. There are a couple fairly subtle notes that I always detect in Bubba which include coffee and pine. The beauty of the pre-98 Bubba Kush may ellipse both it's smell and taste. The plant has some of the most perfectly trimmed, shaped and crystallized buds known to man and has been known to yield large quantities. My favorite thing about pre-98 Bubba Kush is the amazing high it gives you!! Both body and heady, this high has been known to put me in any type of mood I want to be in at that time making it #3 on my favorite buds of all time list! If I have a lot of work to do that day, this bud has gotten me though these projects in record time. If I want to go fishing all day, this bud will give me the most fun fishing experience possible!!! The Island Sweet Skunk I am smoking right now is from a new local pot shop in Colorado. It produces a very heady, uplifting and hazy high. Although it's not widely known as a bud with pronounced flavors, the Island Sweet Skunk strain can actually be very flavorful! If you have a well grown batch, you can taste a very pronounced sweetness to the bud that contains faint notes of vanilla, nutmeg, and sometimes butter. As you exhale, these notes fade into notes of honey and almost a molasses taste. Along with the vanilla, I sometimes taste the indistinct flavor of Fall which I think is actually a hint of red apple. This Colorado grown Island Sweet Skunk almost gives you the feeling that you are floating a few inches above the ground, or the chair you're sitting in, while at the same time, you are surrounded by a very light fog. This fog is almost completely invisible, except for the opaque feeling of a smoke-like substance layered between you and the existential items within your view. Physically, there is a strong tingling sensation behind my eyes in addition to other areas of my face like my cheeks. Keep smoking, -The Weedman

I've been a fan of RMR's cannabis and culture since they first opened as a medical dispensary. Recently, RMR was the first medical dispensary in Steamboat Springs Colorado to open a recreational pot shop in 2014 and therefore, they are now on the cutting edge of all sorts of cannabis services in the entire state. I was born, raised and spent the first 25 years of my life living in the Los Angeles area of Southern California. This means I like my marijuana buds to be very dense and to have a VERY strong smell. RMR's buds contain not only these 2 great qualities, but more specifically give off very strong fruity smells and are ALWAYS COVERED in crystals!! I <3 RMR and am soo glad that marijuana prohibition is OVER!!!!
