Chronic Link - Steamburg

I’m from PA and heard about this place from a friend about 9 months ago. I was very skeptical so I called and asked if my bad back was gonna have me angry if I drove out. Whoever answered the phone confidently said “cant say how the ride here will be, but it will be a very different trip back.” He sure was right! My first visit, I picked up several strains from the bottom shelf and nothing more. Since that time, they’ve become my go to dispensary. In PA we have very expensive medical, too stressful to even make a purchase. In NY, I was treated to a great bud tender who was happy to pull out any flower I wanted to see/smell. She let me know I was welcome to even go as far as stepping outside to try something I was on the fence about. I was sold after the first visit. Their bottom shelf flower is plenty cheap and they always have plenty of strains. I can always come up with 4-5 I want and effectively cover my needs any time of day. And then its great to know if its ever not enough, they have very good flower for a little more. On top of good products, I’ve had very good service anytime I’ve been in as well. Usually my nose does all the work but occasionally you wonder about a strain. Ive gotten very good strain descriptions from the bud tenders, even directing me to some sativas I found very useful. When appropriate, theyve talked up a particular strain they know is unique and I’ve bought it only to also be impressed. All in all, I’m very thankful for this dispensary. Their inventory has changed my relationship with pain over the last year and truthfully I can take much better care of myself than I can with a PA medical card. Great place for recreational users and medical users alike. Keep it up and keep your passion alive!

Hashplant Haze

Very unique buzz. Grabbed an 1/8 of this strain from Terrapin last night at the medical dispensary and decided it was worth writing up. Not a ton of smell for dispensary bud but kind of used to that in PA. Hint of fresh, sweet berries. Very pleasant, light and uplifting. Definitely on the dry side, so this strain has much more potential. Still, when I began to inhale off my pipe I noticed a distinct, sweet citrus flavor, not too bad on the exhale. Just flavorful enough to cover up the burnt pot aftertaste. Slow onset with this strain. I felt little to nothing upon finishing my bowl, but a warm, happy body buzz began to cover my body over the next 10-15 minutes. I found myself feeling disappointed with the indica head high which seemed lacking. I was contemplating this as I went down to the basement to fill a bag for my father. Somehow I ended up back upstairs without even attempting it! I then realized I was actually baked, but the head high was just very clear headed. I mention this because I saw a review complaining about being too high to get things done and I will say this strain is a little more disabling than I’m used to, but I have chronic pain so its a blessing. I’ve seen this strain described as sativa dominant and indica dominant. In my opinion it’s a hybrid that leans indica in its buzz but is more interesting and faster paced with the haze genetics. No couch lock with every reason to just lay around for the night. Very nice. This strain was moderately good for pain but really shined in the mental health department. Life has been especially hard while taking care of my father and this strain helped me deal with a lot of toxic feelings I’d been packing away. I think its a great evening strain for anxiety and depression. Would think recreational users would really love the heavy relaxation without the indica slump. All in all I’d say it’s worth your time to pick it up and give it a try. I’ve never had anything quite like it. Usually haze strains are too anxiety ridden for me, but this cross allowed my mind to have that haze energy without being overwhelmed and with a lot more physical relief. It doesn’t make my top 10 for medical, but I really wish I would have had this strain around in high school.

Trainwreck

A great classic! This strain is chalk full of the blissful and medicating effects we all seek. The name Trainwreck seems a little misleading to me though. Coming back to this strain as a medical user, I fully expected it to have more upward zing, especially with that sweet lemon blossom smell I got off it. Instead of a high speed sativa buzz complete with an astonishing crash, I actually feel incredible indica style relief but without getting tired or crashing afterwards. For me it’s a perfect morning smoke. Waves of relief wash over your body soon after smoking, then accompanied by an equally heavy head high. The buzz isn’t as in your face as other hybrids tend to be. Instead it offers a very soft and unforced relaxation which is inescapable. As the strain wears off you’re left with the sativa euphoria and a fresh take on life with less suffering. Great strain for medical users, great for recreational users as well. I do remember I tried this after a 3 year break and didn’t treat my tolerance with respect. I spent a couple hours try to walk off the hallucinogenic high! When I could finally drive I did find myself struggling to fall asleep til almost 4am. That night was certainly trainwrecked! I don’t recommend going there! I love this strain which for me is a high school classic. The relief I’m used to from Afghani is so brilliantly available with the energy of its Tai relative that I don’t experience any painful slowdown. Excellent as early as 8AM, Trainwreck leaves the user full of hope, happiness, and a bright day or evening without landing in-da-couch.

Legend OG

Absolutely falling in love with this strain. Quickly rushing to first place as a medical strain for sleep and relief from chronic pain. I have 13 years experience with cannabis (was always prompted by medical necessity) and this strain is definitely in my top 10. Its definitely a nighttime strain, producing some of the most powerful relaxation and pain relief there is to be had. Soon after using, a tingly, happy feeling overtakes the body. Its almost a physical euphoria I feel as the strain begins to overwhelm my perceptions, and I slowly lose the ability to feel my back pain. Superb level of relief that doesn’t begin to wane for at least 2 hours. Relief lasts quite a long time after that. Though this strain is a sledgehammer for pain, it’s most special effect is definitely it’s ability to sedate the mind and induce sleep. About 15-30 minutes after use, a very deep relaxation begins to make you want to close your eyes. Other than when I’m strain locked, I cannot fight this feeling without at least resting my eyes. When I do go to sleep, there is very little effort. Power naps frequently occur for me. The smell is extremely distinct. More of a chemical smell than I’m used to from OG Kush. Earthy and woody undertones as well with a very distinct flavor of worn clothing maybe, not necessarily good. Almost smells gross to me, but it is very reminiscent of GMO. Which does smell bad to me even though I love it. In fact, it smells more like a floral cookies strain to me than it does of OG genetics. These terpenes also tend to make me choke a little bit when smoking, giving way to some tell tale coughing . My first thought when I cracked the jar was “this smells like pain relief!” While I have many positives to write about Legend OG, a fair warning that this is a a very powerful medical strain, proceed with caution if you don’t have an unhealthy tolerance! You may also want to eat or at least prepare food before the munchies begin. I find it very hard to not just sink into the couch and ignore the feeling. My first experience with it was so mind bending I got slightly uncomfortable, and the heaviness is such that it probably doesn’t lend itself to recreational use unless laying down and going to bed in the middle of the day sounds like a good time. Its definitely a strain I could say is a one-hit-quit. Less THC seems to actually be required with this one. Though its not as bad as myrcene driven couch lock, Legend OG seems to induce a sleepy haze anytime it is used so keep that in mind if you come across this powerhouse. The last thing of significance I will say is that I actually got the chance to use it on the early side of a hypomanic episode and found it had quite interesting effects. Though it’s usually impossible to catch when its starting, I went from a deep enough depression into hypomania over a couple hours, it was unmissable. That evening I was sure to choose Legend OG. Like all strains, no head buzz under the influence of the mania, but this strain was so relaxing and potent that I couldn’t help but see what thoughts were purely manic. Very helpful. An even greater help was that it wasn’t very hard to fall asleep and stay that way, the real thing I have to worry about on days like that. Most people react badly, so it’s hard to recommend it for bipolar II, but for me it’s distinctly useful.

Fire OG

Very good medical strain. Nice balance of indica relief without landing in-da-couch. I use medical marijuana primarily for chronic pain and the anxiety and sleeplessness that comes with the condition. Fire OG cuts through my pain, giving me relief for a solid 2 hours without putting me to bed. Though its not forced, I do find sleep comes very easily as this strain unwinds. Very good at reducing anxiety without increasing it at higher doses. I personally don’t really care what my bud looks, smells, or tastes like but no complaints with this strain. Classic chemical smell I’ve come to expect from just about anything with OG genes. Pretty well rounded buzz, feels like a slight indica leaning hybrid in effect. Just enough mental stimulation to twist the senses enough to break free from my pain. I give it 4 stars just because there’s really nothing I can identify as being special with this strain. For me, it just checks every box for a solid hybrid that will actually relieve my aches and pains without making me as tired as say, a parent strain, OG Kush would. Probably not that exciting for recreational use. The flower I bought from my dispensary had a brilliant THCa content of over 26%!
