Durban Poison

tl;dr Durban Poison might be one of my favorite sativas, but it's best when you need a serious shot of energy and focus. The 1/8th of Durban I picked up a couple of months ago has that classic lemon scented pinesol smell in spades. When I open the airtight container the scent fills the room. Even people who don't like the typical "weed smell" think it smells good. The taste is very piney with hints of citrus. Not the tastiest weed ever, but very good. The last time I smoked it, a bit of the pine taste lingered in my mouth for the duration of the high, which was kinda fun but also kinda weird. Last night was probably my best experience with Durban so far. I came home from work exhausted, a little crazy, and unable to focus on anything. A couple years ago I would have cracked into a red wine and just curled up on the couch, but instead I loaded up my vaporizer with a little ground Durban and had a few solid drags. It was exactly what I needed. I suddenly had the focus and motivation to get going, clean up the kitchen, and get started making dinner for everyone in the house. I put on headphones while I working and despite how boring handwashing dishes is I mostly remember soaring with the orchestral music, feeling the sound rushing over my skin. There were a few moments of feeling a bit overwhelmed at the peak of the high, but not bad for a racy pure sativa. The psychoactive part of the high was only about an hour long, but I felt slightly euphoric and more stable for the rest of the evening. I've had other times I've smoked Durban, when I was less tired and unfocused, that weren't nearly as pleasant. I think I'll be holding onto this 1/8th and doling it out for nights like last night: when I have things to do but can't seem to rub two brain cells together to do them.

This place finally has an entry! I was here the first day it opened. It wasn't the swankiest dispensary but the gentleman who was working that night was really helpful and all their bud seemed very high quality. I walked away with really nice Durban Poison for cheap. Smelled and tasted fantastic and was a great deal with the sale that day.

This was an interesting strain for me and I'll need to keep trying it. I enjoyed the high, mostly, because it was simultaneously calm and energizing but it was psychoactive in strange ways. Now I'm pretty messed up in the head, which is why I smoke in the first place, but basically the matanuska made past and present bleed together weirdly. Not in a PTSD flashbacks kinda way because it wasn't panic inducing but rather a "things out of the corner of my eye look like my childhood home" way. It's a hard experience to describe, but it was very strange. Maybe that was a fluke, but it's at least something I want to warn folks about who also have pretty bad PTSD

I think this is the first strain I ever tried that was very focusing instead of making me slightly scattered. I paired it with a book I've had trouble finishing and I was able to concentrate for a couple of hours without getting distracted. I'd been worried that a sativa with such an energetic reputation would hit me too hard, but I didn't feel nervous at all. I noticed the comedown mostly because I realized I was back to rereading the same paragraph several times without absorbing it, but I didn't feel that run down from the high. Overall, this was a really nice experience and I think this is a strain that deserves its reputation.

Good Medicine

I picked up a gram of this from kaleafa to try a couple of months back, since I like having a high cbd strain around for when my hip starts killing me. The problem is that every time I've given it a shot the pain will get better for maybe 10 minutes and then I feel sick. I feel off, sick to my stomach and get a bad headache. I don't know what it is. If it was the batch, the particular genetics, or just something about the heritage that doesn't agree with me but it was very unpleasant.

For me this is a very good indica, but not a great one. A sweet smell, pleasant taste, and a heavy sleepy stone were all present when I vaped a small amount so I could get back to sleep. It was nice and calming but the dry mouth was ridiculous and it didn't quite have either the tingly weighted blanket feeling or the mildly hallucinogenic dreaminess that I like for an anti-insomnia strain.

Strawberry Cough

tl;dr if racy strains are your thing you'll probably give it 5 stars, given my sensitivity to sativa highs it's a 4 for me. So I bought a gram of cough at my favorite dispensary today and I decided to try it this afternoon because I haven't slept well in awhile and I was just exhausted and needed a boost. Well I certainly got that boost! Maybe a tenth of a gram in my vaporizer, shared with someone else, was enough to feel so hyped up that I felt the world slow down and my hands start nervously shaking. I wasn't anxious! I felt really giddy. Just also so wired yet unfocused that I was uncomfortable, like I'd had too much coffee spiked with brandy. I've been really sensitive to basically every sativa I've tried except Jack Herer, and this was definitely not going to be another exception. After maybe 40 minutes it settled down to be a bit more manageable mix of energy and euphoria and then I was just snuggly and happy and brainstormed about how to implement one of my spare time projects. The comedown felt like a fever breaking. I was tired and suddenly aware of how warm I was. Overall it was a good experience once I account for my typical weird reaction to sativas. I'm sure most people would love it.

I've stopped in to buy a few grams of various strains and I really like this shop a lot. The second floor location might seem odd until you step inside and see just how much space it buys them. It's not cramped or crowded in the slightest. The quality of product has always been very good and they cycle in new strains pretty quickly, which I like because I'm a nerd who likes trying lots of different things and comparing them. I've liked all the staff I've met so far. No one has ever been pushy or impatient when I want to take my time and smell all the sample jars. In fact, everyone has been nice and helpful.

Just picked up a gram of this to try and, wow, I really like it. This is definitely a creeper. I thought it wasn't hitting me at all until the tingly body high and euphoria came at all at once. At one point I felt like I was floating a few inches off the ground and gliding across the hardwood, frictionless. Really pleasant with a gentle comedown and mild hallucinations. It was almost too much at one point, but the high never got out of control. The smell was very grape soda, which is a plus. This is not a daytime strain, but it was fun to smoke before hanging out with friends. I could joke and follow conversations just fine, despite how psychoactive it was.

I'm redoing my review now that I've had experience with vaping the flower. It has a really nice flavor when vaped. Personally I think it tastes like how Moroccan mint tea smells. It also has a much more noticeable high, though still not particularly strong. It's really nice and relaxing.
