We Tried the Suicide Girls’ New Cannabis Vape Line

Building on their already widespread brand and lifestyle recognition, the erotic modeling and online community website Suicide Girls recently launched a cannabis brand. Their product line is built on three distinct vape cartridges focusing specifically on the effects most beloved by their models—Chill, Hustle, and Zero.

Originally founded and still operating as an “alt-pin-up-girl” Tumblr-style blog site, Suicide Girls is all about meeting consumer preferences where they’re at. The same is true of their product line. The sleek metal vape pens that comprise the line are a great indicator of the ways in which thoughtful design is becoming a priority in the cannabis space, and at 65% THC per pen, they are powerful without being overwhelming for the average consumer (though I would still caution the casual user to start with one small hit and build incrementally from there). They’re also a great value, at $55 for a one-gram cartridge.

Products Based Around Effects, Not Strains

Chill and Hustle are true to their namesakes. Chill was great for both movie watching and going to the meditation gardens in Encinitas, giving me a nice mellow high without drowsiness. I also enjoyed sharing this with my lover before a cuddle. I gave some to a friend who was feeling a little anxious about an upcoming project and she noted that it helped her feel more at ease.

Hustle is definitely a productivity-focused sativa. I tried it with a few friends and one described the experience as “active, focused, and present” while another found it “too cerebral to the point of anxiety.” I personally found this pen to be useful when trying to stave off the afternoon slump and stay clear and focused.

Zero is the Suicide Girls’ unique entry point into the cannabis market. The name speaks to its anti-munchie effects. Thanks to the presence of THCV, a cannabinoid that has been found to suppress appetite and regulate blood sugar, this is one of the few cannabis products I’ve tried that doesn’t leave me wanting to devour the refrigerator.

The Issue of Body Positivity in the Cannabis Space

It’s not a leap to see why body-conscious Suicide Girls see THCV-intense strains, such as Durban Poison, as go-to’s, and why Zero is an on-target product for them. According to the company’s director Dominic Grech, “We noticed a significant number of Suicide Girls smoking strains that were high in THCV … that is where we came up with the idea for Zero, a THCV-infused hybrid.”

They’re definitely on to something with the concept behind Zero. I also found this to be the best-tasting of the three pens, with a light citrus flavor coupled with a candy sweetness—almost like drinking a lemon-lime soda. But the reasons I love the THCV-predominant strain have less to do with ‘dieting’ and more to do with how it gives me even more control over my cannabis experience. Munchies are a side effect a lot of us want to avoid, and it’s past time that we have an option that suppresses that impulse.

Furthermore, for most of us, it’s less because of a desire to stay thin or meet a certain shape goal, and it’s not about being on a diet. It’s about being mindful of what we put in our bodies. It’s because, and let’s be honest, mindlessly mowing down a bag of chips may not leave you feeling particularly sexy or in control of your body. And both of those are paramount to enjoying a healthy lifestyle. As our cultural understanding of cannabis and the amazing number of ways it can contribute to a healthy lifestyle grows, consumers being able to better direct their experience with the plant is becoming more and more tailored.

While a little more holistic, empowerment-focused marketing would really turn me on, I’m thrilled that Suicide Girls has come out with some high-quality vapes. I love the metal on metal design with the logo branded battery. The tube mouthpiece is also unique—it has more airflow than the thinner mouthpieces on other vapes I’ve used. They’re also propylene glycol-free. Overall, these vapes are designed for savvy consumers who care about what goes into their bodies—no matter their shape or size.
