Initial Impressions
The Utillian 720 dry herb/wax vaporizer is a very nondescript-looking vape at first glance. Initially, I wasn’t terribly impressed by the appearance of this unit — the all-black, chunky iPhone shape of this vaporizer seemed very ordinary and potentially bulky. Despite the bland aesthetics, the unit is really smooth in its design, as the asymmetrical body featuring a side button aligned with the thumb is ergonomically designed for the utmost comfort when holding it for use.
I really did appreciate the intuitiveness with this design choice; the vaporizer had a natural feel in my hand, and the slight weight and overall feel of the vape shell contributed to a great sense of overall quality. Despite the high quality of the build, this vape did feel a bit awkward as I carried it around in my pocket. The asymmetrical, wide-to-narrow flow of the shell made it feel a bit uneven and bulgy on the wider side of the vaporizer. It’s not a deal-breaker, but be aware that this is a portable vape that you may want to carry in a purse or backpack if your pockets don’t have much space.
As far as looks go, the Utillian 720 is an unassuming vape that is perfectly designed for handheld use, despite the awkward asymmetrical feel when being hauled around.
Operating and Using the Utillian 720
Loading up the Utillian 720 with some freshly ground herb was a total breeze. The top of the vaporizer where the mouthpiece is attached is magnetically sealed, so only a slight pull is needed to remove this piece to access the heating chamber. Its magnetic seal is strong and helps make the vaporizer feel very secure while in use without being difficult to remove afterwards to repack the chamber. Turning it on and setting my desired temperature was also just as effortless thanks to the Utillian 720’s single-button operation.
Like almost all portable vapes and wax pens, five clicks of the button brings the vaporizer to life, and two quick clicks are all that’s needed to scroll through the four color-coded temperature settings that range from 170°C/338°F to 210°C/410°F. I personally like the color-coded temperature system because it’s simple and I don’t need a specific temperature to feel like I’m getting the most out of my bud, but I am aware that some people would like more choice in regards to temperature settings.
Utillian seems to recognize that some people are particular about their temperatures by adding what they call an “Enhanced” mode for each standard temperature option. The “Enhanced” mode is accessed by holding down the power button for five seconds while in use and adds 5°C/9°F to each of the four standard temperatures, which technically gives the Utillian 720 eight heat settings.

The warm up time was really quick, too; after setting my desired temp (I alternated between the first two heat settings), I only had to wait about a minute before I was ready to swivel out the mouthpiece and start vaping.
Vaping Experience
Vaping with the Utillian 720 was a really smooth and flavorful experience. Staying at the lower end of the four heat settings allowed me to really taste the full flavor profile of the Peppermint Cookies I was vaping. The lower two heat settings also allowed for very smooth and substantive pulls that were made effortless by the straw-like design of the mouthpiece. In my opinion, the highest heat setting made the vapor pretty harsh on the inhale, so I would recommend saving the higher settings for concentrates.
I also really enjoyed the flashing light that would show upon each inhale — I felt it was a nice touch to let me know that the vaporizer was working as intended. One slighly annoying downside was that the “power save” mode made the vaporizer turn off after just a few moments of inactivity. I appreciate this feature to conserve power, but I think the vaporizer should turn off after a solid minute or so of inactivity as opposed to what felt like a few seconds since I found myself constantly turning it back on in between pulls. This is merely a minor quibble because I really did enjoy vaping with the Utillian 720, as every session I had with it was smooth, effortless, and tasty.
Our Verdict
Overall, I really enjoyed my time with the Utillian 720. It’s a quality piece of equipment that provides an effective, smooth, and flavorful vaping experience. However, for a price tag of $219.00 I feel like there should have been something more in either the looks or performance department. Yes, this vaporizer does work with concentrates, but many other pens for a lesser price offer this same functionality as well, and the wax vaping performance of this pen was just okay. That being said, if you don’t mind spending the extra bucks, the Utillian 720 provides an effective and flavorful vaping experience with reliable, quality design.
